Norman Powell has battled injuries in his first season with the Miami Heat.
The Miami Heat are off to a strong start in the 2025–26 season, riding a five-game winning streak. A major reason for their early emergence as an Eastern Conference contender has been offseason trade addition Norman Powell.
The 32-year-old wing is in his first season in Miami after four years with the Los Angeles Clippers, and he has quickly stepped forward as one of the team’s primary scoring options.

Powell is averaging 25.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 50.0% from the field and an exceptional 46.4% from beyond the arc on nearly seven attempts per game.
Powell’s scoring run is even more notable given the injuries he has dealt with early in the season. He has appeared on the injury report with ankle and hip issues, and most recently a groin injury that forced him to miss Monday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks.
Miami recently welcomed back All-Star guard Tyler Herro to the starting lineup, but Powell remains a critical piece of the offense.
On Tuesday, the Heat announced their official injury report, listing Powell as probable for Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
“#MILvsMIA INJURY UPDATE: Norman Powell (groin) is listed as probable to play in tomorrow night’s #NBACup game vs the Bucks,” the team wrote on X.
That upgrade in Powell’s status suggests his absence may be limited to just one game, and he will look to pick up where he left off as Miami continues its push in the East.
Now in his 11th NBA season, Miami is Powell’s fourth stop after previous stints with the Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers and the Clippers. He first established himself with the Raptors as a reliable two-way wing, playing a key role in their 2019 NBA Finals run.
In Portland and Los Angeles, he expanded his offensive game, becoming a consistent scorer who could attack off the dribble and stretch defenses with his perimeter shooting. That evolution has carried into his time with the Heat, where his blend of veteran experience, efficient scoring and defensive versatility has made him an ideal fit early in the year.
