METSTERS GO BIG: The Mets are predicted to pull off a blockbuster trade for a $100 million, two-time All-Star Platinum Glove winner, aiming to forge a superstar outfield alongside Juan Soto. Rumors swirl and the baseball world holds its breath as the deal could instantly reshape the lineup. One thing’s clear — if this lands, the Mets’ outfield just became one of the most feared in baseball..ll

The New York Mets just finished a humiliating season, and now are facing the possible departure of their superstar first baseman, Pete Alonso. If he does leave, they’re going to have to find a player to replace his star power.

Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer believes that the Mets could find their superstar replacement in Minnesota Twins two-time All-Star Byron Buxton. He hit around the same number of home runs as Alonso, while also being a much better defender.

Mets' Juan Soto admits his 'love' for one aspect of ex-team

“The 31-year-old is now willing to reconsider his no-trade clause, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. He’s one of the last good trade chips the Twins have to cash in, though his age, injury history, and $15.1 million salaries for the next three seasons layer complications on top of his no-trade clause…Prediction: Traded to Mets,” Rymer wrote.

This past season, Buxton slashed .264/.327/.551/.878 with 21 doubles, 35 home runs, and 83 RBI in 126 games played. His defense would anchor the outfield for the Mets, and his offense would more than make up for Alonso’s.

Buxton’s contract also works well for the Mets, as he’s only set to make around $45 million over the final three years of his contract. And with the Mets’ giant payroll, getting a star of his caliber for that kind of money is well worth it.

Hopefully, the Mets realize this and get to making a proposition for the Platinum Glove outfielder as soon as they can.
