Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon was honored for his accomplishments prior to the start of his MLB career.
New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon’s third season came to an end in early October. New York finished tied with the Toronto Blue Jays for the best record in the American League but fell short in the AL Division Series of the MLB playoffs, and that was partially due to Rodon’s struggles.
The 32-year-old veteran left-hander tossed 8 1/3 innings across two starts, allowing 10 hits and nine earned runs.

Despite the frustrating postseason, Rodon had his best year yet in the Bronx during the regular season. He earned an All-Star selection and finished sixth in AL Cy Young voting for his efforts, posting a 3.09 ERA with an 18-9 record over 33 starts while collecting 203 strikeouts. He formed a strong duo with Max Fried, who took over as the Yankees’ ace.
As Rodon enters the offseason and prepares for his fourth season with the Yankees in 2026, he was recently honored by his college, N.C. State University.
Earlier in the week, Rodon, along with Trea Turner of the Phillies, Dan Plesac and Mike Caldwell, was inducted into N.C. State’s Baseball Ring of Honor. The four alumni were recognized on Friday night ahead of N.C. State’s football game against Florida State University.
Rodon himself collaborated on an Instagram post Saturday, which showcased all four of the newest members. One photo featured him holding a framed graphic of himself in a Yankees uniform alongside an image from his college days.
“Always find your way back home,” the caption read.
Rodon spent three years at N.C. State, appearing in 50 games and logging a 2.24 ERA while collecting 436 strikeouts over 345 2/3 innings. As a result, he was selected third overall in the 2014 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox, where he made his debut just a year later in 2015.
He has since established himself as one of baseball’s best arms, yet his career roots trace back to N.C. State, a program that still means a great deal to him. A three-time All-Star, he is still searching for his first World Series title, and although the Yankees boast a storied history of championships, they have not won since 2009.
Rodon will enter the fourth year of his six-year, $162 million contract signed in December 2022, aiming to build on his success in New York and finally help deliver the Yankees their first World Series title in nearly two decades.
