New Tackle D.J. Humphries said that his eight-year-old son said he should go and play with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs when he became a free agent. That has loosely been his plan ever since.💛♥️

Chiefs fans are really going to love D.J. Humphries.

The left tackle, who is the presumed starter once he gets on the field, became a major midseason signing following Kingsley Suamataia and Wanya Morris’ struggles. It doesn’t sound like he’ll suit up on Friday but his first appearance with Kansas City media revealed an exciting story about signing with the organization.

As it turns out, Humphries’ son is a huge fan of Patrick Mahomes just like the rest of the city.

D.J. Humphries Reveals Patrick Mahomes’ Role in Signing With Chiefs

It’s clear that Humphries raises smart children. Apparently, his eight-year-old son told him that he needs to go play with Mahomes and the Chiefs. Ever since that moment, Humphries intended to join Kansas City.

Luckily for him and his family, Kansas City agreed that Humphries needed to come to town. He’s a Pro Bowl lineman who won’t make his debut this week, yet is still itching to play.

Based on the offensive line issues that the Chiefs have dealt with, Humphries is one of the bigger midseason additions the team could’ve made. There are still substantial issues in the secondary to be addressed following Jaylen Watson’s injury, but this signing checks a major box ahead of the postseason.

According to Humphries, new WR DeAndre Hopkins also wanted his former teammate to come to Kansas City. Fortunately, the team’s newest left tackle needed no convincing.

“I don’t need a sales pitch on the Kansas City Chiefs,” Humphries said. “I know what’s going on over there, I watch TV.”

That’s music to the Kingdom’s ears, D.J. and we couldn’t be happier to have you on the roster.
