Pep Guardiola is reportedly a big fan of Rodrygo and is pushing for his transfer. However, the deal would come with a hefty price tag, as Real Madrid is demanding €120-130 million to sell the attacker. This would not only make Rodrygo the most expensive transfer in Manchester City’s history, surpassing Jack Grealish’s €117.5 million move from Aston Villa in 2021, but also the record sale in Real Madrid’s history, eclipsing Cristiano Ronaldo’s €117 million transfer to Juventus in 2018.
Rodrygo’s current situation at Real Madrid has made him available for transfer this summer. He has fallen down the pecking order under new manager Xabi Alonso and has failed to impress. The signing of Kylian Mbappe last summer has further diminished his status within the squad, with the focus shifting to Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham.
