Liverpool are said to be considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha as part of their January recruitment strategy, with club scouts reportedly impressed by the Portuguese star’s exceptional form over the past year.

The 25-year-old has been one of PSG’s standout performers, playing a key role in their treble-winning campaign and even securing a third-place finish in the Ballon d’Or — a reflection of his rising stature in Europe.

According to sources speaking to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are “keeping a very close eye” on Vitinha as Arne Slot looks to bolster his midfield following an inconsistent start to the season. The ex-Wolves loanee is admired for his technique, composure under pressure, and ability to dictate play — qualities Slot views as ideal for his system.

But any attempt to sign Vitinha will come with major obstacles. PSG are understood to be reluctant to let him go, and only an extraordinary bid — around €130 million (£114m) — might persuade them to negotiate. Arsenal and Juventus are also reportedly monitoring the situation, though Liverpool are unlikely to formalise their interest unless one of their current midfielders leaves in January.

Vitinha has previously spoken warmly about Liverpool, praising the Anfield atmosphere after a Champions League meeting earlier this year.

“It’s never easy to play here with the crowd behind them,” he said after PSG’s win on penalties. “Liverpool are a top side, and we’re proud to have come out successful.”

He was outstanding in that match, completing 103 of 111 passes and winning six ground duels — performances that drew glowing praise from pundits.
