Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are close to falling out of Tom Brady’s top 10.
Entering Week 9, the Kansas City Chiefs were riding a three-game winning streak. They appeared to be on their way to moving up in the AFC West and improving their playoff odds after losing their first two games of the season.
Unfortunately, that was not the case. Patrick Mahomes and company lost to Josh Allen and the Bills, 28-21. The Chiefs quarterback struggled mightily in the contest, completing just 15 of his 34 passes for 250 yards and zero touchdowns.
It’s the first time in Mahomes’ legendary career that he has failed to make more than half of his passes in a single game. Making it worse for him, Allen dominated with one passing touchdown and two rushing scores.
The Chiefs dropped to 5-4 on the season with the defeat, keeping them in third place in their division.
Naturally, the loss also caused the Chiefs to drop in Tom Brady’s power rankings. The NFL icon has been rating his top 10 teams each week as he continues to work as an analyst for FOX Sports, and for Week 9, Kansas City fell by three spots.
In Week 8, Brady had the Chiefs at No. 6. After Week 9, Kansas City dropped to No. 9.

Adding insult to injury, the Bills jumped to No. 2 in Brady’s rankings. They were No. 10 last week, but the former New England Patriots star loved what he saw from Allen and Buffalo.
Brady also noted that the win against the Chiefs was “huge” and that the Bills are seemingly finding their “groove.”
The Chiefs are on a bye week, and they will return to action in Week 11 against the Denver Broncos. Sure enough, they could certainly use a win to get back to playoff contention and, of course, show Brady that they are legitimate contenders.
