The trade deadline came and went for the Kansas City Chiefs, with Andy Reid’s team not making any moves, but they reportedly did come close to making one.
There aren’t too many positions that the Chiefs need immediate help with, but one that you could have made a case for was running back given Isiah Pacheco’s injury.
And as it turns out, the Chiefs did make a call to acquire a running back, and according to Connor Hughes of SNYtv, Kansas City reached out to Breece Hall of the New York Jets.
“With Breece Hall, there was an offer on the table for a fourth-round pick for Breece Hall,” Hughes said. “I was told it was from the Kansas City Chiefs that were willing to trade for Breece Hall. The Jets were steadfast in wanting a third.”

Chiefs nearly traded for Breece Hall
The Chiefs clearly viewed running back as one position they could strengthen, and according to Hughes, a fourth-round pick was on the table for the Jets, but the AFC East franchise wanted a third-round pick, and Kansas City wasn’t going to part ways with that sort of draft capital.
The Jets underwent a fire sale, with Sauce Gardner going to the Indianapolis Colts and Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys, and many thought Hall, who has seen his name be mentioned in trade discussions for the past year, would be one who could be on the move.
The Chiefs tried to get him out of New York, but couldn’t get a deal done.
