The undefeated Chicago Bulls (5-0) are heading into a pivotal rematch against Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks on Sunday night.Chicago’s Matas Buzelis, Josh Giddey and Nikola Vučević will be aiming to pull out a victory against the Knicks in consecutive games following their upset 135-125 win in NBA Cup group play on Friday.
Unfortunately, the Bulls will be without one of their key role players and an emerging star for their faceoff against one of the titans of the Eastern Conference from 2024-25, as The Athletic’s Joel Lorenzi recently reported that guard Ayo Dosumu would not be available for the game.
“Billy Donovan says Ayo Dosunmu is OUT tonight vs Knicks,” Lorenzi shared via X/Twitter on Sunday night.
“He’s considered day-to-day.”
Following an incredible 22-point, nine-assist effort on 8-for-10 shooting from the field against the Knicks on Friday, Chicago’s 25-year-old guard Ayo Dosunmu has been ruled out due to a quadriceps injury.
There’s no question that Dosunmu’s absence will heavily affect the Bulls’ chances of extending their winning streak to six games to open the 2025-26 campaign, as his uber-efficient output and +19 in the plus-minus department was one of the most important reasons why the squad was able to eke out their latest win.
Through his first five appearances in 2025-26, the Bulls’ former No. 38 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft has authored a breakout season by averaging 16.2 points, 3.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds on a ridiculous 70.2% true shooting percentage.
