A rising Bulls star doesn’t just get cleared — he returns to the spotlight with a game-tilting injury update right before the Knicks rematch, injecting adrenaline into Chicago’s locker room and forcing New York to rethink matchups on the fly as momentum swings back into play. This isn’t just medical news; it’s a surge of belief, a shift in rotations and roles, and a pressure moment where a young cornerstone gets the chance to reshape the storyline under bright lights and boiling expectations. The stakes sharpen, the energy spikes, and suddenly this showdown feels less like revenge — and more like a test of who’s built for the climb..ll

Bulls’ rising star gets massive injury update prior to Knicks rematch imageThe undefeated Chicago Bulls (5-0) are heading into a pivotal rematch against Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks on Sunday night.Chicago’s Matas Buzelis, Josh Giddey and Nikola Vučević will be aiming to pull out a victory against the Knicks in consecutive games following their upset 135-125 win in NBA Cup group play on Friday.

Unfortunately, the Bulls will be without one of their key role players and an emerging star for their faceoff against one of the titans of the Eastern Conference from 2024-25, as The Athletic’s Joel Lorenzi recently reported that guard Ayo Dosumu would not be available for the game.

“Billy Donovan says Ayo Dosunmu is OUT tonight vs Knicks,” Lorenzi shared via X/Twitter on Sunday night.

“He’s considered day-to-day.”

Following an incredible 22-point, nine-assist effort on 8-for-10 shooting from the field against the Knicks on Friday, Chicago’s 25-year-old guard Ayo Dosunmu has been ruled out due to a quadriceps injury.

There’s no question that Dosunmu’s absence will heavily affect the Bulls’ chances of extending their winning streak to six games to open the 2025-26 campaign, as his uber-efficient output and +19 in the plus-minus department was one of the most important reasons why the squad was able to eke out their latest win.

Through his first five appearances in 2025-26, the Bulls’ former No. 38 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft has authored a breakout season by averaging 16.2 points, 3.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds on a ridiculous 70.2% true shooting percentage.

Steve Kerr didn’t just tweak the rotation — he dropped a hammer, benching key minutes and sending a shockwave through a locker room already fighting to cling to its identity. The Warriors don’t just have a roster puzzle — they’ve got a De’Anthony Melton dilemma brewing before he even touches the floor again, and it’s cracking open the quiet tension inside Golden State’s rotation plans.
