Tottenham’s injury problems continue to mount, with another setback hitting Thomas Frank’s squad as yet another player is sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Despite Frank’s insistence that measures were put in place to prevent another fitness crisis this season, his plans appear to have fallen short. Spurs have already battled double-digit absences early in the campaign, with several players facing lengthy spells on the sidelines.
The situation has now worsened, as young midfielder Archie Gray has picked up an injury that will keep him out for around eight weeks.
According to Jake Sanders of The Sun, the 19-year-old’s injury details remain unclear, but the absence comes as a major blow for Frank, who is already without a host of key names. Gray now joins Cristian Romero, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, Radu Dragusin, Kota Takai, and Yves Bissouma on Tottenham’s growing injury list.
Sanders also noted that Spurs now have just 15 fit senior outfield players available ahead of their Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United.
With a congested fixture list on the horizon, Tottenham’s midfield depth has become a serious concern. Yves Bissouma is already out long-term, and Gray’s absence leaves Rodrigo Bentancur, Joao Palhinha, and Pape Sarr as the only remaining central midfielders. Another injury in that department could leave the Lilywhites facing a full-blown crisis.
