Scott Eastwood made a bold confession about Taylor Swift 10 years after starring in the music video for her 2015 song “Wildest Dreams.”
During an October 22 interview with the Associated Press, the 39-year-old Regretting You star and son of Clint Eastwood opened up about his experience collaborating with the pop superstar, 35.
After the interviewer brought up the music video, Eastwood’s Regretting You co-star, Dave Franco, turned to him and said, “I don’t know if you know this, did anyone tell you that we all watched the ‘Wildest Dreams’ video on set?
Franco explained that their other co-star, Mckenna Grace, didn’t realize that Eastwood was the guy in the video.
“Like this is a video dear to her heart, and she put it together in the moment: Scott’s the guy from the ‘Wildest Dreams’ video,” Franco continued, “She immediately called her mom. She goes, ‘Scott’s the guy.’ And we hear her mom through the phone go, ‘No!’ You have a place in a lot of people’s hearts with that video.”
That’s when Eastwood made his blunt admission.
“I’d never met Taylor Swift before. She called me out of the blue,” he shared. “She said, ‘Hey this is Taylor.’ I’m, like, Taylor who?”
In 2016, Eastwood spoke to People about starring in “Wildest Dreams” with Swift.
“None of my agents wanted me to do it, actually,” he revealed, per Billboard. “They said, ‘Oh, we don’t want you to do that! Why would you be Taylor Swift’s boy toy?’ and I said, ‘Why the hell not?’”
On X, Swifties reacted to both Eastwood not knowing who Swift was back then and the fact that his agents advised him against appearing in her music video.
“Wonder why people told him not to do it!” one fan wondered.
To that, another X user explained, “Because back in 2014/2015, being associated with her was the ‘non-cool’ thing and she was labelled as ‘maneater’. Glad Scott didn’t listen to any of those things. ‘Wildest Dreams’ was and still is her best MV to date.”
Another Swifie commented, “People telling him not to do it during 1989 era is mad crazy.”
A different X user pointed out, “And that song is his most popular acting credits to date. He was so handsome in that video.”
Meanwhile, yet another fan echoed, “They created one of the best mvs ever.”
