Arsenal player dismisses exit rumors – Committed to winning trophies with the Gunners.
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has finally addressed the increasing speculation about a potential return to Brazil. His statements leave no ambiguity regarding his intentions.
In recent weeks, the 28-year-old has been associated with various Brazilian teams: Palmeiras, Flamengo, and more recently, Grêmio. However, in an exclusive interview with Placar magazine, Jesus clarified that these rumors do not reflect the truth.
Fully dedicated to Arsenal
The striker has not played since January due to a severe knee injury sustained during the derby against Manchester United.
Now in the final stages of his recovery, he emphasized his commitment to regaining his form and securing trophies for Arsenal, rather than considering exits.
“My primary focus is to return and return well,” he stated. “Every day, the coach and the board express their eagerness for my comeback.
I don’t envision myself outside the club’s plans. I have a contract until 2027, and that’s where I intend to stay.”
The Brazilian connection
Nonetheless, his fondness for his former club Palmeiras is still apparent. Perhaps this is what continues to fuel the speculation.
“The interest from Palmeiras will always be there, both from them and from me,” he acknowledged.
“But there’s been nothing official. It’s merely the natural interest of a young player who came from their academy and dreams of returning one day.”
He also dismissed the notion of playing for any other club in Brazil, asserting that his heart belongs solely to Palmeiras.
These remarks effectively put an end to any discussions about a return home in the near future. Jesus is entering his ninth year in English football and seems determined to complete a full decade.
Playing abroad
Although his tenure at Arsenal has been plagued by injuries, the forward insists he is driven to compete for his position, even with the arrivals of Eze and Gyökeres this summer.
The Brazilian also discussed the possibility of playing in other countries but ruled out any changes at this stage.
“I frequently watch numerous matches from La Liga and Serie A, and I believe both leagues showcase exquisite football,” he remarked.
“Naturally, it sparks a desire to experience it someday, but my goal is to secure titles with Arsenal.”
In summary, although some supporters in Brazil might still fantasize about his return, Jesus is focused on North London.
The speculation can continue, but unless Arteta makes a different decision, Gabriel Jesus will remain where he is for the foreseeable future.
