The Memphis Grizzlies may be without multiple key players in Friday’s game against the Miami Heat.
The Memphis Grizzlies are at home on Friday night as they host the Miami Heat in an interconference matchup.
Memphis enters the game looking for their second victory of the season after they defeated the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night.
Ja Morant led the way for the Grizzlies in Wednesday’s victory as he ended the game with 35 points, three rebounds and three assists while Jaren Jackson Jr. added 18 points, eight rebounds and six blocks of his own.
Now they will try to grab their second victory of the season over the Heat, who enter Friday’s game seeking their first win of the season after losing to the Orlando Magic in their first game of the season on Wednesday.
In the loss, Norman Powell led the way for the Heat in his franchise debut as he recorded 28 points, nine rebounds and four assists while Bam Adebayo ended the game with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
While both teams are looking for a key victory in Friday’s matchup, both may be without some key players.
Heat Injury Report, Will Tyler Herro, Kasparas Jakucionis Play?
For the Heat, they have three players listed on their injury report entering Friday’s game in Memphis.
Miami has ruled out Terry Rozier, Tyler Herro and Kasparas Jakucionis for Friday’s game, leaving their guard depth depleted.
Official Heat injury report for Friday at Grizzlies simply lists Terry Rozier as out-“not with team”. Tyler Herro (ankle) and Kasparas Jakucionis (groin) remain out, as the only two others on the Heat report.
With these three players out, Davion Mitchell, Powell and Dru Smith will likely have an increased role once again in Friday’s matchup against the Heat.
Grizzlies Injury Report, Will Ja Morant, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Play?
On the other side, the Grizzlies enter Friday’s game beat up as they have seven players listed on their injury report.
Memphis has already ruled out Brandon Clarke, Zach Edey, Ty Jerome, Scotty Pippen Jr. and Vince Williams as they will all be sidelined once again after missing Wednesday’s victory over the Pelicans.
Grizzlies injury report vs. Heat:
Out: Brandon Clarke (knee), Zach Edey (ankle), Ty Jerome (calf), Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe), Vince Williams (heel).
Questionable: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (ankle), Ja Morant (ankle). https://t.co/6KyNN2uo7tThe Grizzlies have also listed both Morant and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope as questionable for Friday’s game due to ankle injuries.
If Morant is out, it would be a massive loss for the Grizzlies, especially with both Jones and Pippen Jr. already sidelined as their depth at the point guard position has been depleted to start the season.
For the Grizzlies, both Javon Small and Cam Spencer could have an increased role if Morant and Caldwell-Pope are sidelined against Miami while Jackson Jr. and Jaylen Wells will likely be relied upon to carry the load in Friday’s contest.
Fans can catch Friday’s matchup between the Heat and Grizzlies in Memphis at 8:00 p.m. EST.
