Spanish media outlets are raving about Tottenham star Pedro Porro, with several confidently declaring him Spain’s first-choice right-back after another standout display against Bulgaria.
While a number of Tottenham players have impressed during the international break, none have caught the eye quite like Porro. The 26-year-old was named Spain’s best performer in their 2–0 victory over Georgia, earning plaudits for his attacking drive and defensive reliability.
He followed that up with another top-class showing in Spain’s 4–0 triumph over Bulgaria in Valladolid, further cementing his place in Luis de la Fuente’s plans. Once on the fringes of the national setup, Porro has now firmly established himself as the undisputed starter ahead of Dani Carvajal.
Mundo Deportivo praised his constant attacking threat, noting: “As he did against Georgia, he sent in multiple dangerous crosses — one of his key strengths that could see him keep Carvajal out of the lineup.” El Desmarque handed him a 7/10 rating, highlighting his incisive runs and solid defensive work when tested, while Marca commended his energy and attacking presence, saying he “provided a dangerous outlet down the flank” and linked well with teammates.
Porro’s growth on the defensive end has also been acknowledged. Once known mainly for his offensive flair, the Tottenham full-back has worked hard to balance his game. This season, he ranks among the best for possessions and aerial duels won — proof that he’s evolved into far more than just an attacking specialist.
