Taylor Swift opted not to make the trip to North Carolina to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday
Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has ascended to third place in the NFL’s all-time list for receiving yards by tight ends during Sunday’s 30-27 win against the Carolina Panthers. However, Taylor Swift was not present to witness her boyfriend’s incredible achievement.
Despite having a two-week break from her tour until her December 6 show in Vancouver, Swift chose not to travel to North Carolina. This marks the second consecutive game she has missed, including the Chiefs’ defeat to the Buffalo Bills last weekend.
Since going public with their relationship in September 2023, Swift has attended more games than she has missed, often travelling across the country to support Kelce. She has witnessed him set multiple records, including winning his third Super Bowl championship.
However, she missed out on seeing Kelce become the third-highest receiving yards leader among tight ends in NFL history on Sunday. With 11,884 yards, Kelce now only trails Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten having surpassed former San Diego Chargers legend Antonio Gates.
Swift skipped Chiefs games during Weeks 3 and 4 too with the singer reportedly wanting to allow Kelce to concentrate on play without distractions – a situation both he and his teammates insist is not an issue.
Despite not having his best season in 2024, Kelce remains a key receiver for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Swift’s decision to avoid Chiefs games during weeks three and four was reportedly to allow Kelce to concentrate on the game without distractions – a situation both he and his teammates insist is not an issue.
The Chiefs have improved to 10-1 on the season even though Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes haven’t been at their best
Despite a dip in performance from Kelce and Mahomes this year, the Chiefs still hold the NFL’s best record this season with a 10-1 score. If they maintain this form, the playoffs are likely to be held at Arrowhead Stadium again
Kelce, who recently signed a new contract, is set to continue playing through the 2025 season, solidifying his status as one of the greatest tight ends of all time.
