Detroit, MI — Per ESPN, Brian Branch has officially appealed his one-game, without-pay suspension issued by the NFL after his postgame altercation involving the Kansas City Chiefs. Branch’s camp argues the incident
stemmed from a prior collision by JuJu Smith-Schuster, which they say provoked the reaction late in the contest.
Under standard disciplinary procedure, Branch’s appeal will be reviewed by a
hearing officer jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFLPA. During the hearing, his representatives are expected to present additional video angles, play-sequence context, and medical reports to establish that an initial
provocative/initiating action preceded the escalation.
In the original discipline letter, the NFL labeled Branch’s conduct a “non-football act” and “unsportsmanlike,” emphasizing the safety risk and misalignment with league standards. Branch’s side counters that the
