Manchester United Show Interest in Real Madrid Star Eduardo Camavinga
Manchester United have reportedly expressed interest in Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, with the Frenchman said to be “flattered” by the attention. The news comes as the transfer rumor mill begins to churn during Ruben Amorim’s early days as United manager.
Amorim’s Transfer Ambitions Take Shape
Amorim, who is preparing to lead his team in his first match against Ipswich Town, has already been linked to several high-profile targets. Reports earlier this week suggested United are considering a left-back signing in 2025 to fit Amorim’s system, with Alphonso Davies and Milos Kerkez mentioned as potential candidates.
Tottenham’s Pedro Porro, who shares a strong bond with Amorim from their time at Sporting Lisbon, has also emerged as a rumored target following his impressive performances in the Premier League.
Camavinga Approach Reportedly Fails
Now, according to Bernabeu Digital, United have made contact with intermediaries for Eduardo Camavinga, a two-time Champions League winner during his three years at Real Madrid.
Despite being “flattered” by United’s interest, Camavinga reportedly has no intention of leaving Madrid and wishes to remain at the Spanish giants for “many more years.”
Backing Amorim with Signings
While the pursuit of Camavinga appears unlikely, the report brings positive news for United fans. The club’s board is said to be ready to “take out the cheque book” to support Amorim in the transfer market.
This follows earlier suggestions that Amorim would work with a more modest budget than his predecessor, Erik ten Hag, who spent over £600 million during his tenure. This summer alone, United invested £200 million in new arrivals, including Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, and Manuel Ugarte.
January Window Expectations
Despite speculation, a report from The Telegraph suggests United are “unlikely to be particularly active” in the upcoming January transfer window unless a standout opportunity arises. The club’s hierarchy believes Amorim can unlock untapped potential within the current squad, emphasizing players like Rasmus Højlund and Mason Mount.
Meanwhile, certain players are deemed “not for sale,” with Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, and Højlund considered vital to the club’s future plans.
As the January window approaches, Amorim’s ability to shape the team and extract maximum value from the existing squad will be closely watched. Fans, however, can remain optimistic about the club’s willingness to back their new manager when necessary.
