Injury updates: The 49ers could get multiple starters back on offense this week

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed Fred Warner’s surgery will take place on Tuesday. The expectation is that Warner’s recovery time will take around three months. The belief is that Warner will be OK for the offseason program and ready to go in time for training camp next year.

Tight end George Kittle is expected to return to practice this week. Kittle has not played since the second quarter of Week 1. Shanahan believes Kittle will be available to play against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7.

Rookie wide receiver Jordan Watkins has yet to play in a game this season. The 49ers will get him back at practice this week now that Watkins has fully recovered from a calf injury.

Starting quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall will be evaluated throughout the week. Shanahan said the team will see whether those two can practice on Wednesday. The team is hopeful that Purdy will be able to do more during practice this week.

Pay attention to how those two, and every player on the injury report, progress throughout the week. If they go from not participating on one day to limited the next, it’s a sign they’re trending in the right direction.

As for Brandon Aiyuk, he’s still “rehabbing real hard” and getting “closer and closer.” Shanahan is looking somewhere around Week 10. However, Shanahan would not give a definitive target date for Aiyuk’s return to practice.

There are still no updates regarding Ben Bartch, who is eligible to return from the Injured Reserve. We might have to wait later in the week to hear about Bartch or Jacob Cowing, who was doing side work during practice last week.
