Things got heated at the end of the Kansas City Chiefs–Detroit Lions “Sunday Night Football” game after Patrick Mahomes took a knee on the game’s final play.
In one of the most highly anticipated games of the regular season, the Kansas City Chiefs cruised to a 30-17 victory over Jared Goff’s Detroit Lions, who had their four-game winning streak snapped.
NBC Sports commentators Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth were casually talking on the air after the game, only to announce that a brawl had broken out. X/Twitter user @ZachIsHere, who was at the game, posted a video of the incident after it unfolded.
As you can see, it started when Brian Branch threw a punch at Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. Things quickly escalated from there, with Mahomes ending up at the bottom of the pile as players on both sides scrambled to break it up:

The Lions may have been frustrated over several questionable calls that went Kansas City’s way, leading to accusations that the refs “rigged” the game for the home team. For what it’s worth, Kansas City wasn’t penalized once in the game.
