While seemingly no one can agree exactly where the Dolphins’ issues lie, there are clearly some problems within. But where?
Tagovailoa spoke after the game, and in doing so, he revealed some of the team’s cancers. Some of the issues, according to the Dolphins QB, are that players simply aren’t showing up to meetings. Others are showing up, but not on time.
“Well, I think it starts with the leadership and helping articulate that for the guys. And then what we were expecting out of the guys, right? We’re expecting this, are we getting that, are we not getting that? We have guys showing up to player-only meetings late, guys not showing up to player-only meetings. Like, there’s a lot that goes into that. Do we have to make this mandatory, do we not have to make this mandatory? So it’s a lot of things of that nature that we’ve gotta get cleaned up, and it starts with the little things like that.”
Tua Tagovailoa on Miami Dolphins
Ultimately, it sounds like the Dolphins lack leadership, which is interesting because Tagovailoa was voted one of the team captains before the season started. But to be fair, he’s not the only one of the team’s captains.
Of course, there are those who are on-field leaders and others who lead from the sideline. Either way, the Dolphins aren’t getting the job done this season.
Will the blame fall on Grier, McDaniel, Tagovailoa, or other, smaller scapegoats? If things don’t improve quickly, expect wholesale changes in Miami. In fact, after Sunday’s 29-27 loss, they could already be in the works.
