He later shared the image on his Instagram account with the caption: “Back on track with the boys… Didn’t feel like vaping today, fancied the three points instead [laughing emojis].”
Leeds United are refraining from commenting at present, though there is always a general expectation that such alleged incidents at any club will be investigated by the FA. In 2022, Leeds released a strong statement after Anthony Elanga appeared to be hit by a coin in Manchester United’s 4-2 win at Elland Road.
“We will do everything possible to find those supporters who are throwing objects on to the field of play,” it said at the time.
“Any supporter caught throwing objects on to the pitch will be issued a lifetime ban from attending our fixtures.” West Yorkshire Police made nine arrests.
Other notable occasions of alleged projectile throwing in Premier League fixtures include instances at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last December, Goodison Park in 2022 and Stamford Bridge in the same year.
