USA Today says Lakers’ LeBron James “Second Decision” could deliver ‘most shocking news’

“LeBron wants to compete for a championship,” Rich Paul told ESPN. “He knows the Lakers are building for the future. He understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all. We are very appreciative of the partnership that we’ve had for eight years with Jeanie [Buss] and Rob [Pelinka] and consider the Lakers as a critical part of his career.”
James has also been vocal about retirement and when his career might come to an end. Skip Bayless believes Lakers GM Rob Pelinka could be pushing James toward that decision.
“To the NBA, it is now upon us. And the cold war continues between LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. So last week, if you noticed, Rob Pelinka tried to ease LeBron into retirement, into a retirement announcement,” Bayless said.
With the season just two weeks away, James has stirred the social media world with a second decision announcement scheduled for Tuesday. With the entire world buzzing, he could potentially reveal something shocking.
“Obviously, the biggest and most shocking news would be of his retirement. James is 40 years old and will be 41 by the end of the season. James has hinted at and/or teased his retirement too many times to count in recent years though, and James has said that he is not going to sit around and wait for his younger son Bryce to reach the NBA like many people have assumed of him. If James were to announce his retirement, he would likely do it before the start of the season so that he could have a farewell tour around the league,” USA Today’s Jon Hoefling wrote.
This would come out of left field. Retirement has been on the horizon, but it doesn’t seem like it would happen this abruptly.
If this year is indeed the end, James will likely give it everything he has in pursuit of one last championship. With the season just two weeks away, James could change the entire complexion of this NBA season.
