Kevin Danso has shared his thoughts on Tottenham’s draw away at Bodo/Glimt, noting that the team demonstrated a new strength in their game at the Aspmyra Stadion.
Although Spurs entered the contest as favourites, they found themselves 2-0 down after 66 minutes and staring at defeat. However, they showed resilience to battle back and level the score, even creating chances late on to snatch a win.
While Micky van de Ven praised the squad’s determination, Danso echoed the sentiment, stressing that Tottenham have been working on developing the mentality to respond when trailing.
The Austrian defender, making his first Champions League start in place of Cristian Romero, admitted the team didn’t produce their best football on the night but highlighted the importance of the mindset they’ve adopted.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Danso said:
“They played really well, especially in the first half, but we showed a strong mentality to come back. Of course, we wanted more from the game, we wanted to win, but coming from 2-0 down again shows the mentality we’ve built.
“It was tough in the first half – they’re used to the surface and their home conditions, and we needed to figure it out quicker. But regardless of where we play, we aim to bring our best. It wasn’t quite there today, but our mentality carried us.
“As defenders, we want clean sheets, but if we go behind, the crucial thing – and what we’ve really integrated this season – is the mindset to fight back, stay in the game, and give ourselves every chance to turn it around.”
Given Bodo/Glimt’s impressive home record in Europe and the challenges of their artificial pitch, Spurs’ comeback deserves recognition. Salvaging a point avoided what could have been a damaging defeat and underlined the team’s growing resilience.
