Dominic Solanke has issued a direct message to Tottenham fans, providing an update on his recovery after a tough start to the new campaign.
Now in his second season with Spurs, Solanke impressed last year with 16 goals and eight assists across all competitions, but his follow-up season has been far from ideal.
The striker has been struggling with an ankle injury since pre-season, restricting him to just 49 minutes of action so far. He has yet to make a start under Thomas Frank and hasn’t featured in the matchday squad since the second league fixture.
Solanke breaks silence on recovery
Taking to social media, the forward opened up about the mental challenges of dealing with the setback and confirmed that surgery became unavoidable after conservative treatment failed to solve the problem.
Posting on Instagram, Solanke wrote:
“Hi everyone, just a quick update on my situation. The past few months have been very frustrating as I tried everything possible to push through my ankle issue before deciding on surgery. Unfortunately, nothing worked, so I had to undergo a minor procedure this morning. Thankfully, it all went well, and I hope to be back on the pitch soon. Thank you all for your support and kind messages.”
Spurs adapting in Solanke’s absence
With Solanke sidelined, Richarlison has led the line, managing to stay fit and contribute four goals so far this season. Still, Solanke’s physicality and link-up play remain a missing ingredient in Tottenham’s attack.
As Spurs prepare to face Leeds before the international break, fans will be hoping Solanke’s recovery progresses smoothly, allowing him to rejoin full training and return to action once the Premier League resumes.
