Some people may not believe in the Miami Heat, but Norman Powell isn’t one of them.
He is expecting great things for the team during his first season playing for them.
He recently summed up why he thinks the Heat can still be championship contenders, even if they don’t have a “generational superstar.”
“We can be really good. One thing that people don’t understand or see is that you don’t need a generational superstar or talent to be good to go and win a championship and have a deep playoff run. [You can have a deep playoff run] Having a well-rounded team with experience with star players, which we have in Bam and Tyler – and I see myself as well as a budding star even though I’m 32 now. But [it helps] having that experience with Wiggins, guys that have won championships and know what it takes to be successful,” Powell said.
Norman Powell says he’s a budding star, that teams don’t need a generational superstar to win a championship, and that the Heat should be ‘feared’

Powell says his team has the DNA to win a title, and everyone should be very afraid.
He may be in the minority, because many fans feel the Heat are at least one or two pieces away from really competing for a title again.
They are now without Jimmy Butler, and the loss of him struck a huge blow to Miami’s identity.
Even with all the problems he presented toward the end of his run with the Heat, Butler was still an important part of the squad.
The team is scrappy and has something to prove, but that will be a tall order in 2025-26.
Of course, they have overperformed and impressed many times before, so they could do it again.
Powell is coming off a powerful run with the Los Angeles Clippers, and he’s prepared to push himself even more with the Heat.
He has full faith in his team, and he wants others to believe too.
