Why Taylor Swift Didn’t Have Travis Kelce With Her at Selena Gomez’s Wedding

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are reportedly getting married this weekend.

Taylor Swift’s fiancé, Travis Kelce, has a game on Sunday, making it difficult for him to attend.

Kelce’s Chiefs schedule is public, and he is playing in Kansas City, Missouri’s Arrowhead Stadium—far from southern California, where the wedding is said to be taking place.

When Selena Gomez announced her engagement to Benny Blanco in December 2024, Taylor Swift was quick to comment and request a special role in her longtime friend’s wedding: “Yes, I will be the flower girl.”

Now, Swift is engaged herself, but it looks like her fiancé, Travis Kelce, has a scheduling conflict that prevented him from joining her at Gomez and Blanco’s wedding. The nuptials are reportedly this weekend.

A source told Daily Mail on September 25, “Taylor is planning to attend, but she’ll probably be going solo as Travis has a game in Kansas the next day. That’s all still under discussion.”

Multiple sources told TMZ on September 5 that Gomez and Blanco planned to get married at the end of September in the Santa Barbara/Montecito area of California. The outlet reported that guests would be shuttled to the wedding’s secret venue.

On September 16, The Sun reported the nuptials will allegedly be on Saturday, September 27. Neither Gomez nor Blanco has confirmed that—and they aren’t likely to, as they have kept their wedding planning mostly private.

However, if they wed that weekend, Kelce has football commitments that could keep him away from the celebration.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and his team have a home game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, September 28, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Kickoff is at 4:25 P.M.

The night before any game, the team has a 11 P.M. curfew, Chiefs player Mecole Hardman Jr.’s fiancée, Chariah Gordon, told People—which makes attending a wedding in a different state too difficult for Kelce.

Swift herself has no public engagements set this weekend.

The singer will be releasing her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3 but has otherwise been keeping her activities under wraps.

She was last seen on a triple date with Kelce, Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, and Kane and Katelyn Brown on September 14 in Kansas City, Missouri.
