TRADE TREMOR: BULLS SHAKE UP WITH LOTTERY GAMBLE — A bold proposal sends Coby White packing while the Bulls eye a former lottery pick sparking wild debates among fans who can’t decide if this is brilliance or madness the whispers of risk versus reward are deafening and one swing like this could define Chicago’s future for years to come

Coby White, Chicago Bulls

Coby White is in the final year of his current contract. He will become an unrestricted free agent next summer. As such, the Chicago Bulls could explore potential trade packages for their high-scoring guard.

If the Bulls do choose to explore White’s trade market, they could be wise to sound out the Golden State Warriors. After all, they’re still locked in a stalemate with Jonathan Kuminga. The Bulls have reportedly been interested in the explosive forward all summer.

Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley has provided a potential framework for a sign-and-trade to bring Kuminga to the Windy City. The proposed trade would look like this:

Golden State Warriors receive: Coby White and Jalen Smith

Chicago Bulls receive: Jonathan Kuminga (sign-and-trade), Moses Moody and a 2028 first-round pick

“As for the Bulls, they should be distancing themselves from their prosaic present and pushing toward a brighter future,” Buckley wrote. “Betting on Kuminga’s ability to thrive in a larger, more consistent role than he’s handled in Golden State would be a big part of that plan. Adding the unprotected first might be an even bigger piece of the puzzle. And Moody is someone who can support a winning team whenever the Bulls are able to assemble one.”

Kuminga would give the Bulls an athletic presence on the wing. He could also become a new long-term primary option on the offensive side of the floor.

Warriors Have Re-ignited Sign-And-Trade Talks

According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Warriors have reopened sign-and-trade discussions with the Sacramento Kings.

“While the two teams went more than a month without discussing the matter during the later part of the summer, team sources said the talks between the two sides were renewed earlier this week,” Amick reported on Wednesday. “And while no significant progress was made, it’s notable that the Kings — who have offered veteran guard Malik Monk and a lottery-protected 2030 first-round pick for the chance to give Kuminga a three-year, $63 million deal — aren’t giving up on bringing him to Sacramento this season.”

If the Bulls still harbor hopes of adding Kuminga to their roster ahead of the new season, they should be picking up the phone to Mike Dunleavy Jr.

After all, if the Warriors are willing to discuss the framework of a deal with the Kings, they will likely be receptive to whatever the Bulls are willing to put on the table.

Kuminga Could Become Key For The Warriors

There’s no denying that Kuminga has All-Star upside. He’s explosive, a talented defender. He also has enough of a scoring touch that he can continue developing into a three-level threat. Pairing him with Josh Giddey would also create a fearsome one-two punch.

If the Bulls are truly building for the future, adding Kuminga to their young core would be a strong play. Of course, finding a deal that appeases the Warriors won’t be easy. Fortunately, the Bulls have plenty of tradeable assets. Whether the front office is willing to spend them on Kuminga will remain to be seen.

Nevertheless, the Bulls should at least do their due diligence on a potential Kuminga deal.
