.The New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays currently find themselves in a tight race in the American League East. Neither team is willing to budge as both desperately want to take home the divisional championship and put themselves in a good spot for the postseason.
As every game matters down the stretch, the Blue Jays were taking on the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, where Springer had a chance to put his team ahead. Down one run in the second inning with the bases loaded, Springer hit a rocket down the third base line. However, the umpire ruled it was foul, which frustrated the slugger.
He was beside himself with the call and stepped back into the batter’s box to finish the at-bat. He would then be rung up on a questionable strike three call, which led to even more frustration.
Blue Jays’ George Springer caught accusing umpires of aiding the Yankees
George Springer had some words for the umpires while he was walking back to the dugout. He had even more to say while he was in the dugout, which Jimmy O’Brien of Jomboy Media was able to share.
“If they want New York to win, just tell me and give it to them already,” said Springer in the dugout. “How do you miss that? It’s right in front of him.”
Toronto would go on to lose that game by a score of 4-1. They would also lose to the Red Sox again on Wednesday, which is not ideal. Now, the Yankees have caught up with them as the two teams share the same record with four games left in the regular season.
