Tottenham boss Thomas Frank shares latest on Dejan Kulusevski’s recovery
Dejan Kulusevski has been out since undergoing surgery on his right patella late last season. The Swedish forward has missed the start of Spurs’ campaign and, despite posting images of himself training on a bike, remains some way off a return.
Speaking ahead of the League Cup tie with Doncaster Rovers, Thomas Frank gave an update on the attacker’s progress.
“Instead of saying October, November, December, I just want him back as soon as possible,” Frank told the club’s website. “The medical staff and Dejan are working really hard. It’s not tomorrow, but hopefully not too far away.”
When asked if fans could see Kulusevski back before the year ends, Frank replied: “Yes, there’s a good chance.”
The Spurs manager hailed Kulusevski as a “key player,” admitting his absence has been felt in the final third.
Frank also provided wider injury news. Randal Kolo Muani and Ben Davies are nursing minor knocks and will miss the Doncaster match but are expected back soon. Dominic Solanke and youngster Kota Takai, who have been sidelined longer, are close to returning after training with the first team this week.
Though not yet ready for competitive action, their progress was described as encouraging, and Spurs could soon see a much healthier squad as the autumn schedule intensifies.
