As quickly as feasible, Real Madrid needs to sign a center-back. Eder Militao may not return for the 24/25 season after suffering an ACL injury for the second consecutive season. One must also question if we will ever see him at his peak again and what impact this will have on him in the long run.
Not unexpectedly, Real Madrid has been considering Sergio Ramos as a possible addition. After spending the previous season with Sevilla, he is currently without a club.
As he has demonstrated with PSG and Sevilla in recent years, Ramos is still capable of playing at a high level even though he is not the player he once was. Therefore, most Real Madrid supporters do not think it would be a bad idea to bring him back on a temporary basis.
He would also contribute a wealth of leadership and expertise. After Nacho Fernandez left and Toni Kroos retired, this team may be short in that area. Ramos would be amenable to a comeback, but it appears that Real Madrid is not pressing for his signature.
Real Madrid and Ramos are not in communication over a potential return as a free agent, according to a tweet from Fabrizio Romano. Since he loves the club, the Spaniard would be open to returning, but no discussions have taken place as of yet.
Whether Real Madrid changes their decision about Ramos is still up in the air. Their other center-back of interest is Aymeric Laporte.
It is crucial that they increase their center-back depth in January, regardless of the player they ultimately choose to acquire. If not, it is difficult to imagine them winning this season. However, Los Blancos have already shown us to be mistaken.
