BREAKING NEWS: It was a very difficult decision for me to make to I had to because the circumstances surrounding my contract”, William Saliba have officially signed pre contract agreement to join Real Madrid by the summer – Decision made today after having One on One discussion with Andrea Berta

Real Madrid haven’t given up on Arsenal’s William Saliba even though they didn’t make an approach for him in the summer window.

On Friday, AS reported the La Liga club have identified the Arsenal player and Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté as their main options to strengthen the centre-back position next summer.

They also said Real Madrid will have a trump card to sign Saliba if he doesn’t extend his contract at Arsenal beyond 2027.

El Desmarque now report the Spanish giants have a great desire to sign the defender next summer, and look at their chances of taking him away from the Gunners.

It’s claimed Los Blancos are searching the market for a young defender with international experience, available for a reasonable price. Konaté turns 27 next May and although his age doesn’t fit, he’s a candidate because his contract expires in 2026.

The report states Xabi Alonso’s side dream of signing the Arsenal star but are well aware it’ll be complicated. There’s already been claims elsewhere of the Gunners offering an extension and Saliba rejecting it.

El Desmarque relay that and then report Real Madrid are eager to sign Saliba, who seems ‘willing to seek a new project’. His age and experience make him a perfect fit for the La Liga club.

They find his €80m price to be high and the report say Real Madrid could negotiate with Mikel Arteta’s side to lower that figure. Whether they’ll succeed remains to be seen, but the Spanish club have a desire to sign both Saliba and Konaté.
