🚨🚨🚨YANKEES WARNING?: Baseball Twitter and TikTok are blowing up after insiders cautioned New York against locking up a two-time Gold Glove winner on a long-term deal, sparking heated debates over money, age, and championship windows. Fans are flooding comment sections with split takes — some screaming it’s a smart dodge of another bloated contract, others furious the front office might let elite defense walk away. The real suspense isn’t just about the player, it’s about whether the Yankees are finally learning restraint or setting themselves up for another Bronx soap opera.

Yankees advised not to sign two-time Gold Glover to long-term deal image

In December of 2023, the New York Yankees acquired Trent Grisham as part of the deal that brought Juan Soto to the Bronx. He has played well, filling the club’s outfield hole over the last two seasons.

This season, his game has reached a whole new level. He has started 135 games, hitting a career-high 33 home runs and a career-high 71 runs batted in.

The two-time Gold Glove award winner will become a free agent when the season comes to an end. His powerful 2025 season has certainly increased his free-agent stock, which is not good news for the Yankees.

Trent Grisham has balled out this season, leaving no doubt that he is capable of being a sparkplug for a club. He will be a player that plenty of teams ask about over the winter.

While he would be a player that the fanbase would love to see return, it should come at the right cost. Yanks Go Yard’s Henry Palatella argues the club should only consider signing him on a qualifying offer.

“Again, Grisham is a quality player who has helped the Yankees this year and could end up being a stud for them in the postseason. But his latest dramatic swing in production shows what the Yankees should stay away from investing in him this offseason. A qualifying offer? Absolutely. A long-term deal? Stick with Cody Bellinger.”

Palatella advised the club should only consider Grisham on a one-year qualifying offer. Given his streakiness, a long-term deal after his production this season could wind up hurting them.
