Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was asked several times during the last postseason about potentially retiring if his team won the Super Bowl.
Following the Chiefs’ 25-22 victory in February’s Super Bowl over the San Francisco 49ers, Reid vowed to return for the opportunity to earn a three-peat.
Reid’s future wasn’t the only member of the Chiefs in doubt during in January.
Many thought tight end Travis Kelce could retire and join his brother Jason (who did retire from the Philadelphia Eagles after the 2023 season) in a duo media career. Travis chose to return to play for Kansas City.

The Chiefs took care of both their head coach and star tight end this offseason. Reid signed a contract extension with Kansas City. Travis signed a new deal that made him the highest-paid tight end in terms of annual salary.
The details of Reid’s deal were unknown in April when agreed to an extension.×

Not going anywhere

$100 million in five years to coach Patrick Mahomes seems like a dream come true for any head coach of any age. At 66, Reid seems to have plenty of years left in him to coach in the league. The Chiefs are 9-1 entering their Week 12 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders, so his brains seem to be working just fine on the Kansas City sideline.
Fans on social media don’t think Reid is walking away from the rest of the $100 million contract anytime soon.
