The Chicago Bulls missed the playoffs once again last season as they have now missed the playoffs in seven of the last eight seasons.
Now entering the 2025-26 season, Chicago will look to end their playoff drought as they look to take advantage of the weakened Eastern Conference behind their core of Josh Giddey, Coby White, Matas Buzelis and Nikola Vucevic.
Chicago also made some key additions to their roster this offseason as they acquired Isaac Okoro from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Lonzo Ball and they also selected Noa Essengue in the 2025 draft.
While these moves could help the Bulls fight for a playoff spot this season, they could also elect to make more moves ahead of the trade deadline and if they do, these three players could be potential targets.
Jonathan Kuminga
The Bulls have been linked to Jonathan Kuminga over the past few seasons and with him and the Golden State Warriors continuing to disagree on a new contract, Chicago could swoop in and make a deal for him.
For the Bulls, they had a similar situation with Giddey this summer that they were able to resolve recently and now they could go after Kuminga to add another key young player to their roster to help with their rebuild.
The young forward is a solid scorer and defender who could fit well in Chicago’s rotation after falling out of Steve Kerr’s rotation in Golden State last season.
Anfernee Simons
The Bulls are in need of another elite scorer in their starting lineup and they could elect to target Anfernee Simons to pair alongside White in the backcourt.
Of course, Simons was traded to the Boston Celtics earlier this offseason in the trade that sent Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers, though Boston has been looking to move him.
Because of this, Chicago could look to make a move for the young guard to add another great scoring guard to their offense alongside White and Giddey.
Walker Kessler
The main area of need for the Bulls is at the center position, especially with Vucevic entering the final season of his contract.
Due to this, Chicago may target Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler to add another key young player to their rotation.
Kessler would give the Bulls a great inside scorer, defender and rebounder who would be able to work as Vucevic’s replacement in the future if he leaves next summer.
While the Bulls could target these three players, they could also look elsewhere to upgrade their roster as they try to end their playoff drought this season.
